Artificial Putting Green Turf FAQ

Artificial Putting Green Turf FAQ

Some owners may think that artificial putting green turf means grass that looks and feels fake. This is a common misconception that we encounter when putting on turf. We decided to set the record straight with an FAQ on our artificial turf grass for putting greens.

1. Artificial grass looks and feels fake – Not true! At Southwest Greens of Florida, we offer several styles, colors, and heights of artificial grass ideal for golf courses, playgrounds, and other areas. It can look very realistic.

2. Artificial turf is bad for the environment – When we hear this, we tell our customers all the ways artificial turf benefits the environment. Since our customers don’t water, mow, or apply pest control products, they waste less water, produce fewer emissions, and keep the air cleaner. Plus, their grass always looks beautiful.

3. My ball won’t move the same on an artificial putting green – Our greens are designed and installed to specifications consistent with Nicklaus Design in building PGA Tour quality greens.  Ball speed is similar to that of top quality golf courses in your area.  Every green we build is checked on the stimp meter for desired speed.  While small putting areas cannot have a high degree of slope, we design the greens with realistic breaks.

4. I can’t afford artificial grass – On average, artificial turf pays for itself within 3-5 years of installation. From that point on, the savings over the life of your synthetic grass lawn is significant.  There are few maintenance costs associated with artificial turf other than keeping it clean and clear of debris.   Best of all, you won’t be spending recurring dollars on watering, fertilizing, fungicides, pesticides, mowing, re-sodding problem areas that are associated with natural grass lawns.

5. Artificial grass can’t stand up to Florida’s heat and sun – At Southwest Greens, we offer a 10-year warranty on artificial grass. However, our turf often lasts for 12-15 years and we’ve been around that long to prove it.

Don’t hesitate! Call Southwest Greens of Florida today with any and all questions you may have.
